As a pastel portrait and figure artist I invite viewers to get up close to my work to see the results of a limited colour palette, 10s of thousands of directional lines and multiple passes (layers) all revealing texture and colour that you may not expect. I am also a freehand artist so each layer is constantly corrected and adjusted.

I am part of PANZ (Pastel Artists of New Zealand). After receiving the General section winner award in the 2025 National Exhibition I gained APANZ accreditation. And am also a proud member of the Wall to Wall Art Gallery.

My biggest influences are impressionist artists Edgar Degas and Mary Cassatt. Degas for his ability to portray movement and everyday life, and Mary Cassatt for her ability to capture intimate family moments. With my work I aim to capture the effects of light, colour and movement and to show off how amazing the human face and form is.

 

Alongside my native bird series and other work, I am a graphic designer and web designer based here in Nelson.
