Jackie Sherwood
Jackie grew up in Hawkes Bay, and spent many years in Sydney raising a family, before discovering her love of painting. This passion took her on various sojourns to Europe, and she eventually moved to France, then Greece, where she spent 12 years. She has now returned to live in New Zealand.
Jackie currently paints abstract landscapes, mostly in acrylic, adding various types of mixed media and often collage. She also loves using ink, and enjoys sketching and painting in the great outdoors. Jackie is also a keen photographer and often uses her photos as a spring board to her paintings.
Jackie has been painting in various mediums for over 20 years. Her works have been sold privately and through galleries in Australia, the UK, Europe, USA and New Zealand. She has also participated in exhibitions in a number of countries.
Artist’s Statement
I have always been fascinated with lines and shapes in the landscape, whether they’re on the land, at the water’s edge, or underwater. Having moved back to New Zealand, my current aspiration is to capture the essence of the landscape and waterways in the Tasman area, and I look forward to interpreting the beauty of New Zealand in my unique way.
There will also be visits to Europe, where I know my inspiration for paintings will be drawn back into the colours, shapes and textures of my favourite countries there.
