Sue Broad

Sue is an experienced weaver, passionate about her work.

Using only high quality wools and other natural fibres, such as mohair, silk, cotton and linen, Sue creates original pieces, many of which are enhanced by hand-dyeing of the yarns, and by using fibre combinations that produce interesting textures and lustres.

Sue’s work is inspired by the colours of the natural world, especially those of Tasman Bay and The Haven, views of which Sue has from her home-based studio.

Her work has been shown in Australia, but more widely in New Zealand. Sue exhibits her work at local and national exhibitions where it has attracted several major awards over the years, including the Bayer Award for colour, the Wools of NZ Award, the Wonderful Weaving Award at the National Alpaca Conference 2009, and the Complex Weavers Award 2012.
