Michael Potter

My sculptural work is influenced by three main areas, archaeology, photography and winemaking.

Whilst studying, my interest in the importance of ceramics in archaeology became apparent. Coupled with a previous career as an assistant winemaker, led me to make amphoras and other ancient artefacts. Another previous career as a photographer had me basing my final year exhibition around pinhole cameras and the photographs I took with them. I also make vintage film camera sculptures.

My tableware ranges are based on my love of good wholesome fresh and fermented foods, and the decadent stuff too! My tea ware can be found at The Hollow and Alberta’s who also use my plates and cups in the café.

I am represented by Parker Gallery, Kereru Gallery and The Suter Gallery.
