Nelson Suter Art Society

to promote and encourage the cultivation and production of work in the visual arts

Desiree Henry

I was born and bred in Marlborough then moved to Christchurch to pursue my love of fashion design. I became a successful Fashion Designer for a number of years. After the Christchurch Earthquakes, my husband and I decided it was time to be near family again and moved to the beautiful Tasman region.

I have always had a love for art and in particular flowers and blooms. Through the encouragement of a very close friend and artist, I decided to pursue this love and use my creativeness and express myself in the form of fluid art.

My fluid art is mostly created using acrylic paint mixed with pouring medium and water. The result can be quite breathtaking. I interpret the result based on colour, movement and vision of the design to the emotional aspect of how it makes me feel.

This has been and is an amazing journey for me. Two of my pieces were accepted in the Tasman National Art Awards 2022 – a very proud moment for me. I am also a member of the Art Group Nelson and the Mapua Art Group. Meeting with other artists and viewing their styles and work is very inspiring.
